He is a broken-down, Botox-faced former quarterback who cannot throw anymore and will not shut up. The league spent seventeen months arguing about whether he got the Raiders too cheap and whether a man who owns one team should be paid to narrate the other thirty-one. They approved him anyway. He collected a reported nine-figure FOX contract to sit in a booth and sell certainty he no longer has on a field. The face is a freeze-frame. The product on his own letterhead was 3–14. That is the introduction. The rest is the paperwork.
NFL owners approved his purchase of a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders on October 15, 2024. About five percent. Partner Tom Wagner another five. Mark Davis still holds the wheel. The deal had sat since May 2023 while the league argued about the discount and about a man who would own one team and describe the other thirty-one on television. Restrictions followed: no ripping officials, no hanging around other facilities, production meetings limited. He still showed up in the Raiders’ coaching booth with a headset. The league said an owner is allowed to sit there. The optics did not need a rulebook.
Then came 2025: 3–14, Pete Carroll gone in a year, third coach in three seasons. June 2026, on Stick to Football: the team underperformed in every area, everybody’s fault, “there’s nobody who did a good job.” He added that it starts with him. Mike Florio asked the obvious question — if it starts with him, why is he in a FOX booth on the Sundays that are not Las Vegas? Brady has also called critics of the dual role “paranoid and distrustful.” Mark Davis once said Brady could help them pick a quarterback. They picked Mendoza first overall and started Kirk Cousins.
The house read
Tommy Boys football is proximity sold as competence. Stand near the banners. Invoice the hope. Collect the applause when Jeanty scores and Cousins beats a corpse. Five percent of a refrigerator stadium does not make you a general manager. It makes you a suite-level tourist with a wax-museum face and a midlife letterhead. The 3–14 happened with his name on the building. Week 1 and Week 2 happened with his name on the building. He will still be on FOX when the Saints try to take the mask off.
